The team

Mentorly is a team of five engineers who have led technology as CTOs and tech leads at companies across the MENA region and the US. Today they work as consultants, giving founders a senior, independent view of the technology behind their business.

The problem

Most founders make their biggest technical calls (who to hire, how to build, where to host) without anyone senior on their side. The cost shows up later: the wrong hires, flows nobody can measure, and paying for servers and services they never needed.

Key decisions

  1. 01

Data first: every step of a founder’s product is tracked, so decisions are made on evidence instead of guesses.

  2. 02

Right-sized infrastructure: deployment is matched to real usage, cutting the extra services and server options founders were paying for but didn’t need.

  3. 03

Teach, don’t just advise: founders learn how to hire engineers, set up their flows and judge technical work themselves.

  4. 04

The website I built for it is fully bilingual, English and Arabic with right-to-left typography, and every word is editable in an embedded Payload CMS, with the repo’s copy as a fallback so it never goes blank.

Outcome

More than 12 founders have used Mentorly to make data-driven technical decisions, saving thousands in server, tooling and hiring costs. I built the bilingual website solo in a week in September 2026.

What it does

  • Tracking set up at every step, so founders decide on data
  • Hiring guidance: which engineers to hire, when, and how to assess them
  • Product flows and technical setup done properly from day one
  • Server and deployment costs cut to what the product actually needs
  • An honest, senior view of what could be better in their tech, and what they don’t know yet
