The problem
Meta won’t let ads for a 21+ product link straight into the store, and the store has its own age gate. Ad traffic needed a compliant way in that still landed people on the product they clicked.
Key decisions
- 01
A separate bridge page on its own subdomain and infrastructure receives the ad traffic, asks the 21+ question once, then sends the visitor to the exact product from the ad.
- 02
Each product has a clean path (e.g. /higherdose), and the hand-off carries an age-verified flag so the store’s own gate doesn’t ask twice. Unknown links fall back to the store, never a dead end.
- 03
Ad parameters, GA4 and the Meta Pixel carry through the bridge so campaigns stay measurable, and a measured performance pass cut the main font from 202KB to 35.5KB, removed 212KB of unused fonts and deferred a script that was blocking the page.
Outcome
Built solo: the Shopify theme and the Meta ads bridge, so the brand can advertise an age-restricted product and still send buyers straight to checkout.
What it does
- Age-gate bridge for Meta ad traffic, one path per product
- Hand-off that skips the store’s own age gate
- Ad tracking and analytics carried from ad to store
- Homepage rebuilt from Figma as seven new sections
- Mobile layout tuned section by section for 390px phones
- Font and script performance pass
